Repeating the experience of the previous morning, Iban scried for Vorlissa and found her now in the tavern; she reacted by disabling the crystal ball with a spell within a minute of starting the scrying, and she looked most angry. Cadwallider then cast detect invisibility and the party headed out to explore. It was not long before the party ran into a flight of Harpies. They flew into the party, singing their foul songs, but everyone resisted...until Dimbul was struck by one. Charmed by them, he suddenly decided that he did not want to see his old and new friends fighting, so he used his rope of entanglement to tie up the entire party. Fortunately, they could still fight and, as an added bonus, when Mordecai and Aldeberon were also charmed, they could not make their way to the Harpies to present themselves as their meal. Soon, the Harpies were slain and the party freed; even the recently joined Ogre got a powerful blow on one of them.
The party now burst open a door to find the flamboyant half-orc gamemaster's quarters. He was flummoxed and the party left him along. After watching his door for a few minutes and seeing nothing, they continued on,where they ran into a group of Wraiths. Mordecai turned them and the party left them behind. But, soon they came to a deep amphitheater with a 15' tall statue of a humanoid creature. As the party searched for secret doors, they were surprise attacked from behind by a pair of priests of Lolitar (and the torture cult from the level above) and a force of Hobgoblins. The later charged as the former threw silence and other spells at the party. Cadwallider and Iban flew and levitated above the silence to cast spells. Cadwallider lightning bolted them but do not kill the priests as the Hobgoblins pushed into the party. Mordecai and ZZ were held, and the Hobgoblins tried to cut their throats. They did so with Mordecai and he nearly died. Also, it turned out there was a third priest, invisible, who was also hitting the party. The first two were beaten down by an ice storm from Cadwallider, but Iban dropped back down to save Mordecai. The initial two priests and all the Hobgoblins were slain, but the once invisible priest escaped.
After a battle with a Black Pudding, the party next ran into a large party of Owlbears who proved to be yet another tough fight for the party (this was clearly not their day!). The Owlbears did immense damage to the party, grabbing and crushing Mordecai, Iban, and Cadwallider in turn. But, for once, Dimbul proved his mettle and began to backstab the things to great effect. The Owlbears were defeated, but the party was well worn and felt the need to retreat, which they did. Iban cast invisibility 10' radius on them all and they retreated back to the area of Astraharsis' quarters, avoiding a few Dark Folk on the way.
