The battle won and the gate destroyed, the party quickly took stock of their own condition as they rapidly plundered the slain Drow while ZZ’s two charmed Drow looked on in disgust and with a good deal of hatred. The single Drow alive but unconscious was bundled into the bag of holding, as was the body of Dimbul the Oft-Slain. The party wanted to take on the Giant King but decided to first take out the two charmed Drow, which they did with a surprise attack.
The party opted to locate Gulliveg using a locate object spell focused on his elaborate crown. They found him to be almost directly above them on the level above! This proved fortunate, as a few passwalls were enough to drop him down into their midst, though Nescitus was in the magical shaft and caught under the falling mass. As this happened, Sirius activated the cubic gate. The party now tried to bundle the giant through the gate, which proved exceptionally difficult due to his bulk and immense strength. A ray of enfeeblement unfortunately failed to better the party’s odds. Just then, a pair of clearly higher level Drow appeared to the south of the party along with a hooded figure. But, before they could cast any further spells, Mordecai covered them with a silence spell. One Drow seemed unaffected but the other Drow and the hooded figure were unable to cast spells for a brief time. Sirius followed this up with a grease spell to aid in shoving the Giant King through the gate. The other fighters aided by simply attacking the Giant King, who fought back with immense strength and a magical two-handed sword.
After some struggling, ZZ managed to push the Giant King through the gate as the party was hit with a cone of cold from unsilenced Drow magic-user. Nescitus went through the gate, casting magic missiles through it at Gulliveg. ZZ responded with an ice storm as the rest of the party made their way rapidly through the gate and into the Happy Hunting Grounds. The melee with the Gaint King continued and HelgaVinka finally struck him down! But the unsilenced Drow cast a parting shot, a fireball that engulfed the party even through the gate. Nescitus was killed outright and Mordecai knocked unconscious. But ZZ leapt through and Sirius closed the gate before the Drow could get off any further spells.
Worn and battered, the party returned to the Dwarf Kingdom via a plane shift spell (just occurred to me - I hope that ZZ had that and not Mordecai!). Once back, they quickly healed their most serious wounds and reported into the joint Dwarven-Elven war council that their primary and secondary missions had been accomplished. The Giant King was dead and they had both his corpse as well as the bodies and heads of several Drow to show for it. Dimbul was duly raised from the dead and, while no wiser than before, he was certainly a good deal more disfigured by his deadly burns. Needless to say, there was much rejoicing that night across the two demi-human kingdoms and beyond…
