The party decided that they wished to escape this dungeon immediately, given the huge treasure they’d acquired. Sirius employed his wand of frost to make ice walls to allow the party to safely bypass the disintegrating statue. They made their way outward without incident, soon arriving in the crypt with the large, stone sarcophagus. They decided to detect magic and realized there was magic inside the crypt. Mordecai used yet another protection from undead scroll and the sarcophagus was opened, revealing the skeleton of a dwarf female in red scale armor. However, a Specter was dwelling within, but could not attack with the protection in place. It was quickly destroyed, despite the difficulty in effectively turning undead in this place.
At this point the ten dwarf mummies shuffled at the party but again were unable to close. The party moved quickly, shutting doors between them on their way out. Near the entrance, however, the party encountered the spectral, evil-visaged dwarf some of them had seen before at times. He seemed to leer at them and was well pleased with something. He also seemed somewhat more substantial than in previous encounters. ZZ, tired of this foul spirit, rushed to attack, only to pass through him and feel a burning at his throat. The figure vanished thereafter and the party left the dungeon, returning to their quarters in the Dwarf city. Floi did mention that he’d seen the figure at times in the city and did not like the look of him. Hans recommended they see if Floi were evil, and Mordecai cast know alignment, but he proved to be a stalwart good. He did strongly lobby to be given the golden sword they’d found, and the party acquiesced, giving him that and the red scale armor in lieu of all other treasure.
As they rested and recovered, Sirius volunteered to examine all of the new magic they’d recovered. This proved ill for him as a large book proved to be antithetical to wizards and blasted him terribly. Meanwhile, the party met with Nali and told him about the dungeon, which he gathered somewhat about when he saw Floi with his new gear. It all clearly made him a little nervous or unhappy that such a thing could lie within the fringes of his city, even if it were sealed with an immense block of stone. He also reported to them a rumor that the Giant King might make a personal visit to Manston, though he did not know any details. He admitted that his ability to collect intelligence outside of the kingdom was extremely limited. The party then decided it was time to return to Manston and discussed possible options for how to do so. In addition, they requested that the six Dwarves be assigned to them once more, along with Floi. This surprised Nali a bit but he was happy to comply and said he had no doubt Floi would be pleased to join them for further adventures…
