The party moved on to check the other areas surrounding the bowl-shaped room. Sure enough, they eventually found three more rooms, each with corresponding secret doors. Expecting what was to come, they triggered each one by simply staying in it a few minutes. In the next, an evil Fire Elemental appeared and attacked. Hans slowed it and it was pounced by everyone else and soon destroyed, leaving behind two red hexagonal crystals similar to the ones the Earth Elemental had left behind. The following room had a Water Elemental (slowed by Sirius) and the last an Air Elemental. All were handily destroyed.
Given that the crystals clearly fit the demonic open mouths facing the bowl room, the question became how to place them. The first thought was corresponding to the rooms where they were acquired but the party first had Burt use an augury which indicated this was a bad idea. So, they did a second to ask if the reverse would be better and it indicated yes. The crystals were duly placed and a compartment opened at the bottom of the bowl. It was found to contain five scrolls and a ring. The former were all of protection against elementals (one for each type plus a universal one). Dane decided to try the ring on his finger and heard a voice say “choose the element you wish to command.” He said “fire” and the ring was revealed as a ring of fire elemental command.
The party returned to the mimic (now called Archie) but it had nothing new to report. So, the party proceeded to explore to the east, running into five Blue Trolls, two of which Sirius managed to web up. But the party then encountered one of the blizzard monsters which did a great deal of damage to them. So, after feeding a troll or two to Archie, the party returned to the secret room beyond the tree of ice to rest, passing the night uneventfully…
