After two nights rest, the party returned to the dungeon. Once in and past the symbol of the goddess Tanit (demon goddess of the Zarabel and who knew what else) on the floor. Shrugging off the usual bad effects of crossing the symbol for Mordecai and Iban, the party spiked open the doors to the three rooms south of the large gallery. From there they proceeded east and a little south. eventually coming to a slimy room with three weird creatures of slime. The touch of the monsters was horrific, as it caused the spot touched to begin rotting immediately. Further, boils and sores erupted all over, having all sorts of deleterious effects. The monsters seemed particularly attracted to Bel and Amadin, who both suffered these ill effects, though Mordecai was able to quickly cure Bel. A quick retreat to a better fighting position soon saw the end of the slime monsters.ZZ sensed valuables within and oil was used to burn a path to a lone signet ring depicting the eagle of the ancient Lormyrrian Empire.
The party continued east, coming to a choice between stairs leading up into a large, natural cavern or a finished passage turning due north. They took the latter and came to a long hall lined with triangular indentations on either wall filled with statues of many ancient Hadashim, male and female. The statues seemed to watch the party, but nothing untoward occurred when the party proceeded on. The long hall finally came to what appeared to be another throne room or audience hall. This one was smaller than the last one they'd found, though it was lit by a dim glow with no apparent source that brightened as they entered. The room was flanked with a total of four Type I Demon statues. The throne of black wood, atop a low dais, was flanked by Type IV and Type V Demon statues. Seated in the throne was a skeleton in black robes wearing a large golden crown; its eye sockets glowed with a purple fire. ZZ now cast an augury that indicated a search would be to the party's benefit. So, they entered and, as the party approached, the skeleton stirred and spoke, saying "What seek ye mortals here, aside from your death?" The party responded that they sought knowledge of this place and a certain wizard that had likely fled here. The skeleton seemed pleased and demanded "a great prize" in exchange for knowledge. The party acquiesced and handed over the crown they'd found earlier, laying it at the foot of the skeleton. The crown then vanished and the skeleton told them that it would answer three questions:
Where is Lord Solen? (He is with his concubine in the Citadel of Dahut, also known as the Shrine of the Gatherer and the House of Blackness)
What is the path to the Shrine of the Gatherer? (It lies south and east. There are many perils along that long road)
Where is the greatest treasure of this area? (It is very close! It lies with the Caretaker.)
The party opted not to steal the crown from the skeleton and turned to leave...when Bel sensed a secret door near the entrance to the place. They passed through this and found an empty room and a door. They opened it into a large room with a Type V Demoness...who promptly vanished! However, she left a huge pile of treasure. Knar quickly checked it with his wand of magic detection and the party snatched the five items that radiated magic. They also searched for a secret door, but found nothing, and realized the only way out would be through the audience chamber. A quick scry by Iban with his crystal ball indicated that the demoness had apparently teleported there and waited for them, with the four Type I statues now animated and standing by her. Seeing as they had a little time, they went back and quickly plundered the remaining treasures from the demoness' chamber. They returned to the secret door where ZZ invoked his one-time special protection from demons effect and the party pushed out. The protection drove the demoness Caretaker back, but did not affect the four statues. her magic hobbled by ZZ, she focused on melee where she could, but the party was in peak condition and soon made quick work of the demon statues and eventually the demoness herself.
The demons demolished, the party took new counsel. They had a huge amount of treasure and would be unable to carry much more. Although they had not found Solen, they knew he was deeper within and had a rough idea of how to get there. But, since he'd been here for weeks and months already, there was no pressing hurry to find him. So, the party opted to instead leave the dungeon altogether and return to the Dwarf City the same way they'd come. There, they would drop off there vast loot and take stock of their next actions.
They exited the dungeon without further incident and, after a five day journey conducted invisibly, they found themselves at sunset approaching the norther gates of Kazakh city.
