Charter to WestVale Hall found in Session #171.
Per session 171 AAR: charter for Westvale Hall, to be granted to the bearer of the document. None there knew the location of the place, though it did reference Manston and how the “lord of the hall” was required to provide “two score men-at-arms to Manston for a like number of days” and that failure to do so would result in a fine of 200 silver.
Session 197: party occupied the ruins as part of the mission to spoil the Giant King's arrival in Manston. A group of Kazakh dwarves accompanying the party made minor improvements to the grounds into session 200.
started on 20 Harvester 1273, with a projected finish date of 20 Coldair 1274
ZZ hires a crew of Dwarves from Kazakh to perform the restoration at the cost of 45,000
ZZ spends 25,000 SP to initially furnish
Ground level - a central, rectangular edifice with numerous entrances of which both of the eastern double doors are completely gone (stolen by some farmer, no doubt). The central keep is surrounded by a 15 foot high wall with no parapet. Two of the gates on the east side are completely missing, the other two are rotted and falling apart. The wall encloses what was once nice grounds that are now weedy, choked with decades of dead leaves and debris, dead trees, etc. The paths and fountains, etc are overgrown and in poor shape. Many doors are broken, rotted, or simply gone. There are stairs down indicated on the map -- assume those are currently impassable (not sure if I want there to be a dungeon and, if so, how extensive!)
Upper levels - similar condition
Overall, a defensible place if in good condition, but also clearly a residence so not wholly given over to military considerations.
Not a bad place with a lot of TLC.
